Custom paintings tailored to your
palette and space
Creating an original oil painting specifically for your space is an honor and privilege for me. I am so grateful you are interested in commissioning a painting.
Any information and inspiration you can give me is helpful for me to create a painting tailored specifically for you. I work to understand your vision, and I am happy to offer my expertise in terms of size or color palette, just let me know how I can help.
I would love to see photos of the space where the painting will eventually hang, giving me an idea of lighting, other colors and textures in the immediate vicinity. It’s very helpful if you have color swatches you can send me -paint, fabrics, etc - so I can get the most accurate color story for your space. If you have photographs of water or beaches that particularly speak to you, I love to use those as inspiration. (Those photos don’t have to be images that I would paint directly from, but more for me to personalize the piece and channel something specific as I paint). It would also be helpful for me to know which pieces of mine speak to you the most.
Once the composition, color palette and size has been defined, a 50% deposit is required to begin the project. As the painting nears completion, I will send you photos. This is the perfect time to give me your input (more of this color, less of that color, make this area a little darker, etc..) I want you to love this piece, so I will always work with you to get it just right.
My paintings are created using oils and earth conscious mediums and solvents, with many thin layers of paint each taking a couple of days to dry. The average time from start to completion of your commissioned painting is 5-8 weeks. This is an estimate and is dependent on my schedule at the time of the order. I will give you a more specific estimate on the timeframe once the details of your project have been finalized. Custom canvas sizes and/or changes to the final piece can affect this timeline. Once the piece is complete additional time may be required to allow your painting to dry fully in order to safely pack and ship it.
In studio framing is available. Please let me know if you are interested in framing your painting.
Payment terms:
Upon accepting the commission quote, an invoice will be sent to you. A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to begin the project. Upon completion of the painting the remaining 50% balance is due. Once the painting has been paid in full, the piece will be packed and shipped to you (or a designated framer).
Our online invoicing system is a secure third party payment processor and accepts major credit cards, electronic transfer (ACH), PayPal, Venmo and Apple Pay.
The minimum cost for a commissioned piece is $1,000.
Changes beyond the original scope will incur additional fees. There are no refunds on commissioned works, however if you are entirely unhappy with the piece (hasn’t happened yet … fingers crossed!) you will be given a credit in the amount of 25% of the project price (half of the paid deposit) which can be used to purchase an original work available on my website.
Shipping:
Your painting will be wrapped in glassine paper, carefully padded and packed in a well fitting and sturdy cardboard box and shipped via UPS or FedEx Ground. Shipping time is approx. 5 business days.
Pieces with one side measuring larger than 48” will be removed from the stretcher bar frame, and packed and shipped rolled in a sturdy tube to be stretched at it’s final destination. A framer can typically do this, and if you need my help coordinating this I am happy to help. Shipping large pieces rolled can save a lot on shipping costs, and also tends to be a bit safer for large works. If you prefer to have your large painting shipped fully stretched on bars, I will use a freight service to expertly handle the painting, and there will be an additional cost incurred.
Exclusivity:
Your commissioned work is truly unique, and will not be made into reproductions for profit of any kind. This painting will be yours alone. I retain rights to share images of your work on my website and social media.
